Anyone can become a beekeeper, no matter who you are or where you're from. Beekeepers live all over the world. There are three main ways that you can get started.
1. The easiest way to get started is to have an experienced beekeeper teach you all about beekeeping. If you don't know any beekeepers, we can help you find a nearby beekeeping club. Just fill out the form on the bottom of this page. We'll point you in the right direction.
2. Read books about beekeeping. Here are some suggestions:
The Beeman: This book is told from the viewpoint of a child whose grandpa is a beekeeper. You'll learn where bees live, how honey is made, what a beekeeper does, and more.
What If There Were No Bees: Millions of animals and plants live in the wilderness. So what difference could the loss of one animal species make? Follow the chain reaction and discover how important honey bees are to our planet.
Explore Honey Bees: Learn about honey bee colonies, why honey bees live in hives, how honey bees communicate with each other, and why they are so important to human lives.
3. Watch videos. Simply visit YouTube and search "getting started in beekeeping." Here's one great instructional video:
